High efficiency cogeneration (HEG)

The Directive 2004/8/EC of the European Parliament requires Member States to promote cogeneration based on a useful heat demand in the internal energy market.
In Italy, in particular, incentive arrangements for electricity produced by high efficiency cogeneration are established where high performance means a primary energy conversion of more than 75%. The incentive is given by means of Energy Efficiency Certificates related to the production of electricity with a particularly advantageous increase coefficient for small units.
